Clear Springs Development Company Takes Home Four Gold Awards from Home Builders Association of Charlotte
May 24, 1999

Clear Springs Development Company has received four gold awards from the Home Builders Association of Charlotte for marketing materials being used to promote the Village of Baxter, a new residential community being developed on property owned by the Close family in Fort Mill, S.C.

The annual Major Achievements in Marketing Excellence awards recognize outstanding marketing materials submitted by builders, developers and advertising agencies who are members of the Home Builders Association. Entries are judged by homebuilding professionals from across the nation.

"It is an honor to have our marketing efforts recognized by leading professionals in the homebuilding industry," said Kerri Robusto, director of marketing for Clear Springs Development. "The awards are proof that great creative is noticed."

Clear Springs Development won gold awards for Best Logo, Best Developer Video, Best Direct Mail Piece and Best Mixed-Use Brochure. The logo, video and direct mail piece were designed and developed by Wray Ward Laseter of Charlotte, the company's advertising and public relations agency-of-record since ground was broken on the first phase of homebuilding at the 950-acre village in 1998. The brochure was developed by Charlotte graphic artist Mervil Paylor.

The Baxter logo shows a young girl swinging against a backdrop of a picket fence, while the video uses a series of still images and music to illustrate the concept of living in a master-planned community. The award for Best Direct Mail Piece was for "Front Porches," Baxter's community newsletter, while a brochure outlining Baxter's Master Plan won in the brochure category.

The 950-acre Village of Baxter, located approximately 20 minutes from uptown Charlotte in the southwest quadrant of S.C. Highway 160 and Interstate 77 and developed on property owned by the Close family, is a traditional neighborhood offering single family homes and townhomes, as well as commercial sites and more than 400 acres of open spaces.

Modeled after small towns of the Southeast, Baxter's traditional architecture reflects the style and character of the Upcountry South Carolina region. Features such as front porches and abundant sidewalks orient activity to the front of homes, promoting a pedestrian-friendly community.
