Baxter Village Chosen As Backdrop for Mercedes-Benz and Charlotte Hornets Ads.
March 18, 2002

Charlotte, NC-- Don’t be surprised if the next ad you see for the Charlotte Hornets or Mercedes-Benz automobiles features a familiar backdrop. Baxter Village, a traditional neighborhood in Fort Mill developed by Clear Springs Development Company, has recently hosted on-location shoots for both Mercedes-Benz automobiles and the Charlotte Hornets.

“Baxter is the neighborhood that comes to mind as the quintessential American neighborhood,” explains Marcie Kelso with the Film Division of the Charlotte Regional Partnership, an organization in place to market the region to commercial television, film and production companies. “York County is a wonderful location, and it seems that we are recommending Baxter more and more often.”

Spike Molina, head of Spike Productions in Miami Beach, agrees. After scouting many locations, he ultimately recommended Baxter to his client. “Once Mercedes-Benz saw Baxter Village, they were sold as well.” He goes on to say that, “Baxter is just the perfect beautiful neighborhood. The houses are perfect, the trees and natural areas are perfect, and there’s just a feeling of Americana. We were all enchanted by Baxter Village.”

The sense of community among Baxter residents has also been a key element in the neighborhood’s ability to attract location scouts, production managers, photographers and more. “I was so pleased with the fact that everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I look forward to doing more work in the area in the future,” adds Molina.
Located off Interstate 77 at Exit 85, the Village of Baxter is a mixed-use neighborhood being developed by Clear Springs Development Company.

Baxter currently features 1,500 homesites on the 1.033-acre development. Baxter is also home to an on-site elementary school, public library, retail shops and offices. Over 500 acres of open areas add to the neighborhood’s charm. A medical complex as well as further retail and commercial development are also in the works.
