Village of Baxter’s Town Center attracts
new business in keeping with commitment to local environment
Fort Mill, SC – January 16, 2004
Slated to open this March, Baxter Village Cleaners
becomes the latest new business to sign a contract with The Village
of Baxter’s Town Center. As a drop-off and pick-up station,
all dry cleaning will be performed off-site at a central location—an
important factor in how the new business fits the overall plan for
Baxter. “Baxter Village Cleaners will offer residents a convenient
option for dry cleaning, without compromising Baxter’s commitment
to maintaining an environmentally sound neighborhood,” explained
Alan Marshall, Director of Sales and Leasing for Clear Springs Development
Company.
Owned by Dr. Kwang Kim and his wife Young Kim, Baxter Village Cleaners
will also offer alterations services, which will be performed on-site.
A changing/fitting room will be provided for clients. Dr. and Mrs.
Kim emphasize their commitment to providing superior customer service—a
quality that they have found lacking in many dry cleaners in the
region and across the country. Dr. Kim, who holds a Ph.D. in organic
chemistry, works with Yorkshire Corporation in Gaston County. His
background in chemistry gives him a unique understanding of the
dry cleaning process, particularly in the areas of stain removal
and clothing coloration. Mrs. Kim brings a wealth of experience
to the business, having owned and operated a successful full-service
dry cleaner and alterations business in Sarasota Springs, New York,
prior to moving to the Charlotte area.
Construction planning is now underway for Baxter Village Cleaners,
which will be located in Suite 114 of the Springmaid Building in
Baxter Town Center, next to Beef O’Brady’s restaurant.
Planned operating hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through
Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays. John Shaheen of
Commercial One/Regional Companies represented Dr. and Mrs. Kim and
in the lease transaction. Jane Shepherd of the Bell Moore Group
represented the Springmaid Building.
Baxter Village Cleaners joins a list of recently named new businesses
in Baxter, including an upscale Chinese restaurant, an ice cream
and coffee shop, an upscale hair salon and the regional offices
of a multi-national steel conglomerate.
Baxter Village is a 1033-acre traditional neighborhood that blends
the architectural charm and sense of community of the past with
the technology and convenience of today-all in an environmentally
sound manner designed to enhance the Fort Mill area. Located off
I-77 at exit 85, Baxter is now home to over 470 families, and is
planned for over 800 more homesites. Baxter is also home to an on-site
elementary school, public library, urgent care center, over 500
acres of open areas and a YMCA is under construction.
