Clear Springs Development and Piedmont Healthcare System Form Health Care Alliance

Clear Springs Development Company, LLC and Piedmont Healthcare System announced today an agreement in principle that provides for Piedmont to develop a medical complex in the Village of Baxter located on Highway 160 in Fort Mill.

Charles Miller, President and CEO of the Healthcare System said, "We are pleased to form this alliance with Clear Springs Development Company, LLC. Baxter provides an excellent opportunity to develop and expand upon our vision for bringing health and wellness services to York County." Miller said that the health care services offered will provide a broad range of services not only to the homeowners in Baxter and other Clear Springs communities, but also the greater Fort Mill and Tega Cay areas.

The strategic alliance envisions a five-year plan of developing the Baxter campus. Ultimately, services provided will include an urgent care center, medical offices for physicians and a diagnostic testing center. Miller said that when completed the diagnostic testing center would include radiographic, fluoroscopic, mammography, echocardiography, ultrasound, EKG and Open MRI services with additional services added as required by the community.

"Piedmont's medical campus will be a great benefit for the residents of Baxter and Fort Mill," said James Traynor, president of Clear Springs Development. "The campus will be close to all Baxter residents, as well as conveniently located near Baxter's proposed Town Center and elementary school site."

The medical campus would also provide a facility for a medical resource center for the provision of onsite information, educational opportunities and Internet access to health information.

"Piedmont Healthcare's physicians are very interested in expanding their practices to the Baxter neighborhood," Miller said. "We look forward to enhancing the access to medical care for the residents of Baxter and surrounding areas."

There are six medical practices affiliated with Piedmont Healthcare along Highway 160, including family practice, internal medicine, general and orthopedic surgery, pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology.

The 1,000-acre Village of Baxter, located 20 minutes from uptown Charlotte in the southwest quadrant of SC Highway 160 and Interstate 77, is a traditional neighborhood offering single-family homes and townhouses, as well as commercial sites and more than 400 acres of open spaces.

Modeled after small towns of the Southeast, Baxter's traditional architecture will reflect the style and character of the upcountry South Carolina region. Features such as front porches and abundant sidewalks will orient activity to the front of homes, promoting a pedestrian-friendly community.
