Fort Mill Attorney Building Office and Home In
Village of Baxter
Nov. 16, 1999
Attorney Brian Wilson and his family will soon experience what the
new Village of Baxter is all about a place to live, work
and play with a new home under construction and a new office
building to break ground in January in the traditional neighborhood
near Fort Mill.
We are excited about the entire concept of Baxter, said
Wilson, who has practiced real estate law in York County for more
than 14 years.
Weve walked the trail system, my kids have played in
the park and weve been to the library. With my new office,
I can walk to work and, with the proposed new elementary school,
my children would be able to walk to school, he said.
When Wilson recognized the need for additional office space several
months ago, he was already familiar with the concept of Baxter
a total community with a variety of housing opportunities and with
commercial and retail buildings.
The special features of Baxter are what really sold us on
it, he said. The parks, the trails, the sidewalks, the
library, the community center and the proposed school.
Wilsons new office building the first general commercial
office building to be built in Baxter will include 7,500
square feet of space, with about 2,000 square feet for his law firm
and the remaining for other office uses.
Located on a one-acre site across from Alison Park at the corner
of North Sutton Road and Founders Street, the building has about
2,500 square feet that is uncommitted and available for leasing,
with completion expected in September 2000.
The office building architecture is a two-story, Upcountry
Colonial look with wrap-around porches, white siding and green metal
roof, he said. From the outside, it will look like a
traditional estate home.
The Wilson family, wife Celia, a former school board member, and
Dori Lee, 5, and John Paul, 3, will move into their new home in
Baxter in May. The new home is also styled as an Upcountry Colonial,
in keeping with the architectural standards at Baxter.
I see the architectural standards in Baxter as a plus,
Wilson said. It gives us assurances of what other buildings
will look like and helps protect our investments.
Wilson, a University of South Carolina School of Law graduate, is
also excited about the special features planned for the Village
of Baxter, including a proposed new elementary school. Clear Springs
Development Company, the developers of Baxter, has offered to donate
a 19-acre site to the school district for a new school, which is
pending adoption by the School District.
The infrastructure is already there, or under construction,
he said. We know with the Close family behind this community,
it will be done right. My family is looking forward to living there,
and Im looking forward to having an office where I can look
out of my window and see children playing in the park.
The 1,000-acre Village of Baxter, located 20 minutes from uptown
Charlotte in the southwest quadrant of S.C. Highway 160 and Interstate
77, is a traditional neighborhood offering single-family homes and
townhouses, as well as commercial sites and more than 400 acres
of open spaces.
Modeled after small towns of the Southeast, Baxters traditional
architecture will reflect the style and character of the upcountry
South Carolina region. Features such as front porches and abundant
sidewalks will orient activity to the front of homes, promoting
a pedestrian-friendly community.
For more information or to make an appointment with a sales associate,
call (803) 802-TOWN or toll free (877) 570-HOME. The Information
Center is located at Baxters main entrance off Highway 160
and Interstate 77 at Exit 85.
